The original owners The Mazzola family was from Palermo. They owned the business from 1928 and sold it to another family in 1980 and I believe they still own it.
They usually do around St. Patrick's Day.
Don't know but you can call them and ask.Edward how far do you live from New York there always a good Samaritan or a person with a heart that can do you a favor.
Amazingly strong iced coffee. Young lady, Mary is the greatest there. shes very nice and gets your order out fast.
Oo it’s GOOD. Old-school, Italian Bakery with a great crowd of locals and regulars. It’s cash-only with an ATM right outside the door. No space inside for eating, but it’s more grab-n-go or there’s a bench outside. Didn’t get to try the bread, but their scones are HUGE and their chocolate croissant (I couldn’t resist already eating half, whoops) had the BEST layers of flaky pastry! That’s where I really fell in love; very very impressed by the layers of flaky pastry dough they balanced with just the right amount of sweet. Wish I had bought more! Great prices for quality of food.
Come here if you want Luke warm coffee and a terrible attitude
This tiny bakery is pretty awesome!
Mazzola is a cash only bakery. The donuts were good. Nothing mind blowingly good, but I would go back. My wife had a slice of pumpkin pie. You would have thought her head exploded, as she had found the most brilliant pumpkin pie in the history of squash desserts. I didn't eat it, but it was supposedly creamy, delicate, and spiced to utter perfection.
Fantastic Bakery, awesome bread with salami. Best cupcakes of Brooklyn!
One of the best bakeries in Brooklyn you must go for the lard bread amazing
Favorite Place ever!!!😍😍😍 Best Lard Bread in the world!!!❤
Can’t believe the comments on this . I grew up in the neighborhood for many years and still have family on Henry st been going here for years. Exceptional bread and lard bread is the best you’ll find. Too many softies “didn’t get greeted when I walked in” idk maybe it’s just you because I get greeted all the time and treated right. And to the person saying they got “barked” at maybe you just aren’t use to the Brooklyn experience and tone.
Smelled great and everything looked delicious. I only had cannoli, but the shell was crisp and tasty. The filling was not overly creamy.
Breads and cookies YUMMY
Amazing bakery, the lard bread is delicious, and the staff are super friendly and nice.
Old school Italian bakery in Italian neighborhood Carroll Gardens. If you close your eyes you can almost imagine your Italian grandmother rolling the dough, singing an aria from La Traviata as she bakes. So many varieties of bread-from a sourdough to a rustic white - and you can get it sliced here as well. Their cookies and deserts are out of this world. Service is quick and efficient. Like the best Italian eateries, Mazzola only accepts cash. There are lines occasionally and it is a tiny shop so be patient.
Great as always
THE LARD BREAD!! That's all you need to know.
Times are rough right now In NYC well worldwide, I decided to get some pastries for my parents who haven’t left their home in weeks ! My sis in law recommended this place to me for their “ lard bread “. I walk in and there is no greeting? Weird ? Fine it’s a tough time I guess it’s difficult to say hi to customers. I was asking questions about their pastries and the women behind the counter were rude. Rude one word responses, the pregnant women had the worst attitude ! I spend over $70 dollars and left a generous tip which I planned to do because I understand how difficult times are right now. However I will not be returning due to their attitude. Bread was good, pastries were ok but coffee was regular. Nothing special. SAVE YOUR MONEY.
I love their chocolate croissant and lard bread. I wish it were bigger...the lard bread. It has gotten shorter over the years. But they are tasty. The Italian cookies make great gifts, too. Service is fast...lines are long on weekend mornings, but the folks are friendly.
I tried the cinnamon roll and a chocolate chip scone on Saturday morning. Neither tasted particularly fresh, and the textures weren't what I expected. Both were dense, and the scone had none of the buttery taste you expect.
I decided to try a new bakery in Carroll Gardens, and honestly, I wish I had not. When I asked questions about the pastries available (what flavor each one was) the associate gave me very rude responses and was exceptionally short with me. I ended up purchasing a plain loaf of bread and croissant. The loaf was a nice standard loaf, however, the croissant left much to be desired.
Is the best Jerry the best I tell you.
Here's the review where I tell you to go to this place but don't tell you what to buy because I don't want it to be sold out when I get there. Everything is great. Everything is fresh. Take the first parking spot you find and walk. Parking is tight and this place is patronized by locals so if driving try to keep that in mind. Regardless, MAKE THE EFFORT, it's well worth it.
This place is a tiny bit of heaven. A friend and I adventures icer ti this bakery for the lard bread and it was amazingly worth it. Lard Bread is soft, savory and oh so good. It's a MUST on a random afternoon.
The ham and cheese croissant is the most delicious thing I have ever gotten from a bakery. I am a big fan of Mazzola Bakery, we come here most every weekend.
Places like this are reason this neighborhood is the best. Wonderful smells of baking bread fill the area. The lovely baked options are a delightful destination any day of the week. Don't miss the Lard Bread, the Black and White cookies, and all the beautiful loaves of bread. Give Mazzola a visit today!
I could eat the lard roll everyday for the rest of my life
If you're looking for Italian cookies and cannolis there is no better place. Be forewarned, this is a to go bakery.
Every Saturday morning, I buy croissants, focaccia bread, and a blue berry Danish.
Same issue ... no higiene code or policy ... no gloves and handling food with bare hands.. I guess they don’t care while we are in the middle of a pandemic.
Have tried this place multiple times , service is always mediocre, today ordered a medium latte and they served me a medium regular coffee. 0 customer service skills
Wonderful bakery, brought a dozen bagels home to VA and they were great. Awesome cookies too.
Love this place as a teen used 2 get fresh bread out the back from this place no comparison.
This place is fabulous in terms of their breads and I would give it the full five stars but the staff are horrible! You walk in to no greeting and when you place your order the two short dark haired women behind the counter respond with grunts and attitude lace responses. I asked for the cranberry walnut bread and the woman assisting me barked at me that she no longer had it. I paid for my order and left quickly, not bothering to look at any other selections and honestly regretting spending my money in the first place.
One of my favorite places on earth.
Great Coffee, with good psstry.
Cash only, no cards accepted is the only downside. Bread and pastries are excellent.
Amazing baked goods and a neighborhood treasure. I used to live up the block and got countless almond/plain/whole week croissants from this place over the years. Not to mention the lard bread, rainbow cookies, and bread loaves for special occasions. Staff are friendly and move quickly. Cash only. Only reason I give four stars is because of the store policy about coffee and reusable containers— even if you bring a reusable mug, they will only serve you in their single-use cups (some paper, some plastic). Seems wasteful and a policy that could use an update.
I absolutely love this Bakery. It is the last place where I can buy lard bread. Definitely check it out if you're nearby. I'll post a picture of the bread next time I go ..................
Amazing bread and other nice goodies. Keep it up love this place
Mmm that meat bread!
Been coming here for nearly a decade. Will always be my favorite bakery.Every single staff member, including the owner and his wife are angels.Besides 1 worker with red hair and a an attitude of a Chihuahua.Once she is gone i will give 5 stars. she never has a good day. she needs help. She makes me want to never enter the place again but i just love it so much.
Great bakery
I like this place BUT, We are middle of the epidemics. They serve you without gloves and masks. They handling the money and serve you NO gloves! Disgusting!
Tiny little bakery in Carroll Gardens, maybe capacity for 5 standing adults. Everything is so fresh & delicious. Service is also great! So few places like this left. Definitely recommend you stop in and have a taste!
Not sure what the person who had the lard bread and said it didn't taste good was thinking, because to me it is legitimately one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Not that the other stuff at Mazzola's isn't good, the Lard bread is just the best. Huge fan of the cookies as well. Great iced coffee. Overall just an awesome place.
What an exceptional bagel! I left and then went back for another.
Amazing amazing amazing pastries. Authentic Italian with a new flair. Sfogliatella was just honestly so good I was almost crying with joy.
The best coffee, amazing smell, very old fashioned, I just love Mazzola! It’s my fav place to go when I want to treat myself. Large variety of muffins, fresh baked cookies also large variety, decent bagel selection. Highly recommend
Always visit Mazzola’s when I come home in from New Jersey. Been going there for 40+ years
LARD BREADD, the besttttt!! Bestttt in the tri-state area. 7 layer cookies are also soo delicious, better than most bakeries
